A simple, comforting recipe featuring slow-cooked garlic-infused pulled beef served on soft slider buns, perfect for casual gatherings or weeknight meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 to 4 pounds beef chuck roast
  • 6 to 8 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 large yellow onion, sliced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and fresh ground black pepper, to taste
  • 12 small slider buns
  • Optional toppings: pickles, coleslaw, melted cheese

Instructions

  1. Trim excess fat from the chuck roast if needed. Season all sides generously with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. Let it sit for 10 minutes at room temperature.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, add a tablespoon of oil. Sauté the sliced onion and minced garlic until fragrant and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Place half of the sautéed onions and garlic at the bottom of the slow cooker. Set the beef on top, then cover with the remaining onions and garlic.
  4. Pour the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce evenly over the beef. Sprinkle the brown sugar on top.
  5. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 7-8 hours or on high for 4-5 hours until the beef is fork-tender.
  6. Using two forks, shred the beef directly in the slow cooker and stir into the juices. Add a splash of beef broth if it looks dry.
  7. Lightly toast the slider buns to add crunch and prevent sogginess.
  8. Assemble sliders by piling pulled beef onto each bun and adding optional toppings like pickles, coleslaw, or melted cheese.

Notes

For faster cooking, sear the beef before slow cooking to lock in juices. Toast slider buns to prevent sogginess. Use two forks or clean hands to shred beef. Keep the slow cooker lid closed during cooking to retain moisture. For gluten-free, use gluten-free buns or lettuce wraps. For dairy-free, skip cheese or use non-dairy alternatives.
