Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
  2. Place 2 teaspoons of culinary lavender buds in a spice grinder or food processor. Pulse until finely ground.
  3. In a large bowl, sift together 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and the ground lavender. Whisk briefly to combine.
  4. In a separate large bowl, beat 1 cup softened unsalted butter, 3/4 cup granulated sugar, and 3/4 cup packed brown sugar with an electric mixer on medium speed until fluffy and light in color, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Beat in 2 large eggs, one at a time, followed by 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract. Mix until fully incorporated.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture on low speed. Mix just until no dry flour spots remain.
  7. Gently fold in 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips using a spatula.
  8. Use a cookie scoop or spoon to drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart. Sprinkle flaky sea salt on top if desired.
