These flaky Nutella crescent rolls are an easy homemade sweet breakfast treat featuring buttery layers of crescent dough filled with creamy Nutella, perfect for a quick and indulgent morning snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz / 226 g) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1/2 cup (150 g) Nutella or chocolate hazelnut spread
  • 1 tablespoon (14 g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon (12 g) granulated sugar
  • Optional: 1/4 cup (30 g) chopped hazelnuts or almonds
  • Optional: powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Unroll the crescent dough onto a clean surface and separate the triangles along the perforations without tearing the dough.
  4. Spread about 1 teaspoon (5 g) of Nutella evenly on each triangle.
  5. Optional: sprinkle chopped nuts over the Nutella.
  6. Starting from the wide base, roll each triangle tightly toward the tip, keeping the filling sealed inside.
  7. Place the rolled crescents on the baking sheet, tip side down.
  8. Brush each roll with melted butter.
  9. Sprinkle granulated sugar evenly over the tops; optionally add a pinch of cinnamon.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown and flaky, watching carefully after 10 minutes to prevent over-browning.
  11. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes.
  12. Optionally dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Handle the dough gently to keep it flaky. Use a thin, even layer of Nutella to prevent leaking. Brushing with melted butter before baking ensures a golden, crispy finish. Watch baking time closely to avoid drying out the rolls. For extra flaky rolls, chill the rolled crescents for 15 minutes before baking. Avoid microwaving leftovers to maintain flakiness; reheat in oven or toaster oven instead.
