This air fryer teriyaki salmon is a quick, healthy, and delicious weeknight dinner that comes together in just 10 minutes. The homemade teriyaki sauce creates a caramelized, sticky glaze while the air fryer keeps the fish moist and flaky inside.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each, skin-on or skinless)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (193°C).
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels.
  3. Season the salmon lightly with salt and pepper. Brush both sides with olive oil.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
  5. In a separate small bowl, mix the cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of water until smooth. Pour this slurry into the sauce and whisk well.
  6. Brush the salmon with half the sauce. Reserve the remaining sauce for basting later.
  7. Place the salmon in the air fryer basket skin-side down (if using skin-on) in a single layer, not touching.
  8. Cook at 380°F for 6 minutes.
  9. Open the basket and carefully flip the fillets using tongs. Brush the other side with the reserved sauce.
  10. Cook for another 2-4 minutes, until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F.
  11. Let it rest for 1 minute.
  12. Serve immediately, spooning any extra sauce from the basket over the top. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired.

Notes

If your air fryer runs hot, check the salmon at the 7-minute mark. You can always add more time, but you can’t un-dry overcooked fish. For frozen salmon, add 3-4 minutes to the total cooking time. Don’t overcrowd the basket; leave at least an inch of space between fillets. Use a perforated parchment liner for easy cleanup.
